Following the principle of leveraging existing solutions, the technical platform of Link Up Markets is based on two existing products by Tata Consulting Services – BaNCS EAI and BaNCS Announcement Capture. Under the leadership of Clearstream Services these standard products were customized and configured according to the needs of the Link Up Markets CSDs. Fully launched in March 2009, the technical platform enables an efficient communication between the member CSDs. It routes messages, converts formats and enriches information between the CSDs. In addition, the common infrastructure provides centralized reference data, corporate actions and proxy voting information that can be accessed via the member CSDs.  Products and Services
In the context of Link Up Markets, each CSD has two roles: as issuer CSD servicing the other CSDs in its own market as well as investor CSD acting as a specialized custodian for domestic customers. Irrespective of the investor CSD gateway chosen to access Link Up Markets, market participants receive a comprehensive settlement and core custody services for all asset classes eligible in the eight participating markets. Such services include, but are not limited to, settlement of stock exchange and OTC trades, corporate actions services, tax services, shareholders services, cash and securities forecasts, securities administration as well as diverse reporting possibilities. Services are delivered in accordance with domestic formats and procedures in each market, providing a consistent set of standards across all eight markets.  Next Steps
Link Up Markets currently is in the middle of its initial implementation plan that will be finalized in the course of 2010. Next steps are targeting three areas:
